Kodaikanal – “Paradise above sea level”
Kodaikanal is a breathtaking hill station located in the south-western part of Tamil Nadu near the border of Kerala. It’s the most desired destination for its untarnished natural sceneries and an escapade for tourists from the heat that engulfs the rest of the state.
Kodaikanal has for decades been preferred as a cost-effective and memorable honeymoon destination. It offers visitors a hospitable, serene environment coupled with a plethora of sightseeing options.
Coaker’s walk
Constructed by Lt. Coaker in 1872, Coaker’s walk is a 1km mountain road that swirls around Mt. Nebo near Van Allen Hospital and leads to the Main road above St.Peter’s Church. A solitary walk or a breezing bike ride along the road, especially on a clear sky day, will offer a spectacular view of the plains.
Kodaikanal Lake
The lake is a major geographical attraction of Kodaikanal. It has pristine water and is regarded as the pride of the local people. Activities like boating, both rowing and pedaling, boat pageant, flower shows are common during peak season.
Kurinji Andavar Murugan Temple
While you are having the time of your lives in Kodaikanal, why not throw in a bit of spirituality in the proceedings? Kurinji Andavar Murugan Temple is the right place to calm and energize your being. It is situated in a hill where the legendary Kurinji flowers blossoms every 12 years.
Kodaikanal Solar Observatory
The observatory was established in the year 1899 and has since been a vital part of Indian Institute of Astrophysics. Astrophiles can have access to thousands of rare books on Astronomical Literature and can view the various live solar images and Fraunhofer spectrum displayed in the Astronomy Museum.
Dolphin’s nose
Dolphin’s nose is a 6600 feet deep precipice with spine chilling view of the plains. More spectacular is the scenery that you find along the way. If you are an adrenalin junkie, make a travel through rugged path which will take you to an old village named Vellagavi.
Bryant Park
The park was planned and built in 1908 by a forest officer from Madurai, H.D.Bryant, and named after him. A large section is dedicated to nearly 740 varieties of roses. At this botanical garden, every year in the month of May, an annual flower and vegetable show is organised. It serves as a practical centre for education on Ornamental Horticulture and as a demonstration centre.
Pillar Rocks
Pillar Rocks is a set of three giant rock pillars which stand 122 meters.
Guna caves
Guna caves, previously called Devil’s Kitchen, are deep bat-infested chambers between the three gigantic boulders that are the Pillar Rocks.

Thalaiyar Falls
This is also called as Rat tail falls.The widest falls, ranging from 13th kilometer on the ghat road to kodai.It is one of the highest falls in India, with their 975ft sheer drop.
